About this race
Around the base of Mt Ainslie and out toward Mt Majura, this annual trail-series stop starts and finishes near Hackett Oval, immediately presenting the kind of running that demands attention to both your feet and your effort. The Sri Chinmoy Canberra Trail Series: Ainslie Amble utilizes an "exceptional trail network and natural spaces," with routes suitable for newer runners yet offering enough for those who appreciate genuine dirt and hills.
Expect "challenging terrain including single tracks," the Centenary Trail, management trails, narrower paths, frequent turns, and rhythm changes as gradients shift. The longer option includes a full Mt Ainslie loop and a "gut-busting ascent," making this a day for steady pacing over multiple climbs, not for early hero splits. Participants range from novice-friendly short-course runners to experienced trail runners accustomed to continuous climbing and descending. A unique aspect is its timing on Reconciliation Day, a public holiday in the ACT.
