Ultraman Australia begins and concludes on Noosa Heads beach, Sunshine Coast, Queensland, adjacent to the Noosa Heads Surf Lifesaving Club. This is a three-day, 515 km triathlon. The course includes a 10 km swim, a 421.1 km cycle, and an 84.3 km run divided into four stages. A 12-hour cut-off is in effect daily, making this event suitable for athletes skilled in long-distance endurance, pacing, logistical planning, and multi-day recovery.
The race commences with the swim and a 145 km cycling leg, followed by a 276.1 km cycling stage, and concludes with a run equivalent to a double marathon, returning to the beach finish. Tony Horton directs the race, which relies on local businesses, community organizations, sponsors, and its organizing staff. Ultraman distance racing originated in Hawaii and is now held in multiple countries. Ultraman Australia operates as an independent event, distinct from other Ultraman-distance races or similarly named competitions.
