About
Lake Pertobe serves as the central point, with courses extending across the Promenade, Thunder Point, Middle Island, the Warrnambool Breakwater, and Moyjil at the "mouth of the Hopkins River." It has the character of a genuine local running event, not a slick production: runners, walkers, visiting athletes, and the local community converge around familiar coastal landmarks. Dedicated Saturday loops, including the "Worm Bay Wiggle" and "Breakwater Dash," are set aside for children and all-abilities participants, ensuring the entire family can engage in the race weekend.
Underfoot conditions will vary: expect grass, desert track, rail trail, road, promenade, and single-track trail. Shorter routes include "Grannys Grave" and the Lake Pertobe area, while longer options traverse more of the coastline, with one route designed for those who "can't get enough of this course." A thoughtful local element is that $5 from each entry supports the Warrnambool Men's Shed.
