Schönefeld Trail is an October off-road running event held at the edge of the forest near Eupen, in eastern Belgium. Organized by the Leitverband des Ostbelgischen Sports, it uses natural paths, forest passages, and some trail-style sections, avoiding technical mountain terrain. The event provides several distances, from children's routes to a 22-kilometer run, accommodating families, beginners, regular runners, and experienced trail fans.
The routes traverse the Eupen forests and the Hertogenwald area, keeping participants primarily on unpaved surfaces and close to the woods. The inaugural event attracted 452 participants, exceeding organizer expectations, with additional same-day entries. Daniel Baltus of the organizing team described it as a significant success, with the strong turnout indicating a clear local interest in trail running in East Belgium. Favorable weather contributed to a relaxed and engaging atmosphere for both participants and onlookers during the debut.
