About this race
Course du Portageur is a late-season road race in Notre-Dame-du-Portage, a village in Quebec’s Bas-Saint-Laurent region, with the local school on Route du Fleuve serving as the event base. It features 1 km, 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km races, and walkers are welcome in the 1 km and 5 km events. The race has been held annually since 2009, designed for families and for runners aiming to conclude their season with a final event.
The courses follow Route du Fleuve through the village center, keeping participants near the river rather than within a confined park loop. The day's activities include entertainment, a childcare service, door prizes, and a warm broth at the finish line, contributing to a community gathering atmosphere rather than a simple race. Support crews can follow the courses by bicycle and mountain bike. Water stations are positioned at each finish and along the 10 km route, and participants are advised to wear warm clothing for the October weather.
