About this race
The Benin Benefiz-Lauf begins and ends at the Dorfwaldhalle in Hirzweiler, a district of Illingen in Saarland. This charity run takes place in September, starting in the mid-afternoon. Participants can choose from 5 km or 10 km runs, or a 5 km walk or Nordic walk. Shorter races for children and youth are also available, with distances ranging from 500 m up to 10 km, making the event suitable for a wider range of participants than a typical adult road race.
The course is undulating and primarily uses an asphalted field path leading from the Dorfwaldhalle towards Urexweiler and the dog park before returning. Unlike a closed city-street course, runners are treated to open views across the Illtal valley. Entry fees and donations benefit projects in Benin. The event is a collaboration between AKTION PALCA, the municipality of Illingen, and LLG Wustweiler. Following the races, the Dorfwaldhalle serves as the venue for refreshments, awards, grilled sausages, and a cake buffet.
