Braunschweiger Speed5 is a compact race day at the Polizeisportverein Braunschweig, focused on short, fast distances instead of a long road race. The main event is an officially measured 5 km, with separate options for a slower 5 km and a faster 5 km, plus an 800 m children's run and a 1-mile school run. Organized by Polizeisportverein Braunschweig and Braunschweiger Laufclub, and registered with the German Athletics Association, the 5 km offers the feel of a local fun run with official race standards. The distinctive feature is the split 5 km format: runners select their group during registration. The fast race has a 22-minute cutoff to be officially counted, and the slower race includes a pacer for those aiming for quick times. Timing uses bib chips. Awards are given to the top three in school and youth categories, and to the top three women and men in the main 5 km race. Every finisher receives a certificate, available online or at the venue. Near the finish, runners receive tea, water, and fruit. Families and spectators can purchase sausage, cake, and coffee.
