About this race
Race-24 Kelheim begins Saturday at 2:00 PM on the bridge by the Alter Hafen in Kelheim, Bavaria, sending cyclists into a full 24 hours of racing. The event has run since 1997, making it Germany's oldest 24-hour cycling race. It combines endurance testing with a local festival, expecting around 1,000 riders, with the entire Kelheim holiday region treating race weekend as a fixture.
The route has remained unchanged since the first edition, giving the race a settled, old-school character: riders test themselves against the same loop that earlier participants used. Cyclists use road bikes and mountain bikes, with the solo category representing the most demanding version as one rider must manage the entire day and night. Local fire departments and the BRK Bereitschaft Kelheim provide support, tying the event strongly to the town.
