About this race
The RuK-Lauf, or “Around the Kickelhähnchen Run,” takes place in Geschwenda, Thuringia. This forest and cross-country running event is held alongside the Geschwenda Village Festival, with races commencing at the sports grounds at An der Sportanlage Kickelhähnchen. The primary race is 10.5 km, open to participants U16 and older. Shorter races are 2 km and 5 km, with additional Bambini races of 400 m and 800 m.
The event is organized by the athletics department of ThSV 1886 Geschwenda and the winter-sports section of SV 90 Gräfenroda, fostering a distinct local club atmosphere. Its categories include children, youth, active runners, masters, cross, forest running, and the Ilmkreis area, accommodating participants from young beginners to seasoned club runners and older competitors. The race also serves as a qualifying event for the Regional Championships, introducing a competitive element to the festival-focused occasion.
