About this race
The Vorhelmer Volks- und Straßenlauf “Rund um die Wibbeltkapelle” begins at the sports fields on Ennigerstraße in Vorhelm, leading runners on a flat circuit through Schäringer Feld and the village. This spring road and fun-run event, organized by LG Ahlen and TuS Westfalia Vorhelm, offers distances from a 600-meter Bambini run to a 10-kilometer main race. Established in 1994, it has become a fixture in the local running calendar, presenting more as a village race day with multiple distances rather than a single competition.
The 10k consists of two five-kilometer laps, while the 5k welcomes runners, walkers, and Nordic walkers. A 2k race is available for U10 through U16 age groups, with the Bambini distance for those under eight. The program also includes a short 800-meter costume run. The circuit passes the birthplace of a Westphalian dialect poet and clergyman, adding a local point of interest beyond the sports fields. Previous events have attracted several hundred participants, including children and walkers, with records and summaries maintained from prior years.
