About this race
The Ammersee Triathlon takes place in mid-July in Dießen am Ammersee, Bavaria, organized by SC Riederau. Its defining characteristic is the variety of races offered. Children aged six or seven begin with a swim-and-run event. Older pupils and youth athletes incorporate a bike leg, while adults compete in sprint-style formats. The Elite/U23 sprint covers 750 m swimming, 20 km cycling, and a 5 km run. Adult public race options include short road-bike and road-run distances, such as 750 m, 20.5 km, and 5 km, or even shorter variations down to 100 m, 2.6 km, and 400 m.
The younger age categories progress in small increments, starting with Schüler D (50 m swim, 800 m run) up to Schüler A, Jugend B, and Jugend A, which involve a 400 m swim, 8.5 km bike, and approximately a 2 km run. The event originated from youth triathlon; SC Riederau’s triathlon division has organized its Schüler triathlon for over two decades, and the adult Ammersee Triathlon was re-established from this foundation. It is a component of the Oberbayerischer Kids Cup and occasionally features a Bayerischer Jugendcup race. Consequently, the participant lists combine local children, developing youth competitors, adult age-group athletes, and an Elite/U23 sprint field of around 150 participants.
