About this race
Rund um die Zinkspitze is a winter cross-country running event in Hundeshagen, organized annually by LTV Obereichsfeld, the local running and triathlon club. It is a true cold-weather race: runners frequently encounter snow, sub-zero temperatures, and a hilly course with significant climbing. The primary distances are 16.7 km and 5 km for older participants, with shorter races of 3 km, 2 km, 1 km, and 400 m for youth and children.
The route crosses the winter landscape surrounding the Zinkspitze. The challenge stems more from the terrain, weather, and elevation than from speed-friendly roads. Participants travel from Thuringia and neighboring federal states, with many using the event as their running season's first competition. It also contributes to the Eichsfeld-Cup, making age group and distance selection important for those seeking series points.
