About this race
The Düsseldorf Night Run begins after dark in Rheinpark, offering participants a choice between a 5 km or 10 km course. The evening timing is intentional, with the start window set for when the sky deepens to blue. The park is illuminated with art installations, distinguishing it from a typical daytime road race.
The route follows Düsseldorf’s riverside, providing views of the Rhine, city lights, and Hofgarten, which enhance the experience beyond a simple park loop. The 5 km race is open to participants aged 12 and up, while the 10 km race requires participants to be 14 or older. This makes it suitable for teenagers, novice runners, clubs, and groups of friends, as well as competitive runners seeking a chip-timed result. A DJ performs at the Rheinterrasse before and after the run, and the Night Run Lounge offers a social conclusion to the event. As the race is in its second edition, its identity is shaped by night running, music, lights, and accessible city distances, rather than a long-standing tradition.
