About this race
The Hermann-Löns-Park-Lauf is a late-autumn running event held in Hermann-Löns-Park, an 86-hectare public park in southeastern Hannover. It offers runners a practical spread of distances: 10 km, 5 km, 1.5 km, 400 m, and a Bambini run for the youngest children. The race is approaching its 50th edition, with results available online since 2001.
The courses wind through a park that links the Eilenriede and Tiergarten forest areas, featuring ponds, meadows, mature woods, and the Annateich pond at its center. The park dates from the 1930s and is named after Hermann Löns, the poet closely tied to Hannover. It is a very local, volunteer-heavy event, supported by TKH departments, timekeepers, and helpers; finish-line drinks have been provided through an Eichels Event lottery. The setting includes more than just paths: the park hosts 48 bird species, eight native bat species, Ice Age boulders, and numerous grey geese that can cause significant damage to waterside vegetation.
