About this race
The IOK-Triathlon Verl is a July triathlon at Verler See in Verl, North Rhine-Westphalia, organized by TV Verl. It is built around swim-bike-run racing rather than one single headline distance: children as young as Schüler B have a short race of 200 m swimming, 5 km cycling, and 1 km running, while the adult sprint uses 750 m swimming, 20 km cycling, and 5 km running. There is also a relay over the sprint distance, plus a Kurzdistanz race with 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling, and 10 km running.
The event is based at Verler See on Sürenheider Straße, so the swim section is the anchor point before riders and runners move into the rest of the course. The biggest field is expected in the sprint, with about 250 individual starters, while the Kurzdistanz adds another roughly 130. IOK, the main sponsor, also forms mixed relay teams with its own employees and covers entry fees for those relay participants. The race is now past its 20th edition, and the organizer’s own notes point to a local, volunteer-heavy event with strong participant demand and on-site registration only if places remain.
