It follows the standard 70.3 format: a swim, followed by a 90-kilometer bike course, and concluding with a 21.1-kilometer run. The swim typically takes place in the Regattabahn, a venue frequently used for rowing and canoeing. However, construction has led to the swim being held in the Duisburger Innenhafen in certain years. The bike course guides participants through the city, over the Bruecke der Solidaritaet, and towards Baerl. When the route begins from the Innenhafen, it includes stretches alongside the Rhine River. The run concludes in a central urban location, usually within the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena. In some editions, the finish has been at Burgplatz, in front of Duisburg City Hall. Approximately 2,500 athletes have competed in recent events, marking it as a significant race that retains its distinct local character.
