About this race
The Neuwoges Treppenhauslauf is a stair race held inside the HKB tower in Neubrandenburg on a Saturday morning in June. Participants ascend the building, climbing 14 floors and 273 steps to the top of the approximately 60-meter tower. Neubrandenburger Wohnungsgesellschaft, or Neuwoges, organizes the event, which is now in its nineteenth edition.
The objective is straightforward: ascend the stairs as quickly as possible. A climb under 60 seconds offers a strong chance for the overall victory. The event contributes to a national ranking and features twelve start and age categories, along with a team relay. Recent competitions have seen 177 participants, ranging from a 92-year-old towerrunner completing the course in just over four minutes to a three-and-a-half-year-old reaching the summit with adult assistance. At the elite level, Tyler Nehring has recorded a time of 59.31 seconds, Kim Hoffmann has led the women in 1:19.17, and Jano Baarck has finished in exactly one minute.
