About this race
The Offenbacher Behörden- und Volkswaldlauf is a forest running event in Offenbach am Main, Hesse, with the entire route on woodland paths. The main race is 6 kilometres, completed as two laps for U18, U20, active runners, and seniors. U14 and U16 runners complete one 3 kilometre lap. The programme also includes walking and Nordic walking over one lap, plus a 1 kilometre out-and-back Bambini run for U10 and U12 children. The event is normally held in November and starts from the clock tower in front of the AWO/WHG buildings on Waldstraße.
The race began in 1972 and maintains its workplace-sport origins: municipal employees, company sports groups, and guest runners all participate, with separate results for authorities, companies, and guests outside the youth categories. Team scoring is also divided that way, with men's teams comprising four runners and women's teams of three. The format is practical and local: short forest loops, age-group races, walkers and Nordic walkers scored together by gender, and children receiving their own simple turnaround course.
