About this race
The Prenzlauer Hügelmarathon, now in its 20th edition, is a regional cycling event held in the Uckermark region near Prenzlau. Despite its name, it is a cycling race, not a running event. This anniversary edition features a new visual design. Local reports indicate it is a well-attended ride, but current discussions also involve stricter police regulations and the effort required to continue the event.
The routes have been modified, and the event can now only take place on roads closed to regular traffic, as mandated by police. Randy Neye, a senior local police official, detailed these requirements. Mike Förster, a member of the PHM organizing team, acknowledged that past oversights had created difficulties for the organizers. The race's continuation now relies on safety planning, managing closed-road logistics, and collaboration among the organizing team, police, sponsors, and supporters.
