About this race
The Real Kick Ultramarathon is a long trail race held in Moselkern, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Its current primary distance is 125 km with 4,400 meters of elevation gain. The event takes place in mid-November within a natural environment and holds UTMB Index status, positioning it within the serious mountain-and-forest category of ultrarunning, distinct from city-road races.
The race has been known as the Real Kick Winter Ultralauf and has been organized since at least 2013. Previous editions have featured distances including 105 km, 120 km, 125 km, and 140 km. One 120 km route traversed the Eifel region via forest paths, roads, and trails, requiring a GPS device and imposing a 24-hour time limit. The lists of finishers are typically brief, often comprising only a few dozen participants, contributing to a sense of a challenging, self-reliant ultra rather than a large-scale event.
