Südthüringentrail 2026

Südthüringentrail is a trail-running weekend held at the SIMSON-Gewerbepark in Suhl, Thuringia, Germany, typically in September. Participants can select from three distances: the 17.4 km Wichteltrail, the 47.9 km Riesentrail, and the 65.4 km Heldentrail. The Heldentrail begins before sunrise on Saturday at 05:00, the Riesentrail starts at 07:00, and the Wichteltrail commences later in the morning at 10:30. The event centers on the start and finish area at the SIMSON-Gewerbepark, which hosts number pickup, an EXPO, a Friday pasta party, and a single briefing for all routes prior to race day. Saturday's activities commence early, with an optional breakfast offered from 04:00 for runners and their guests. The Wichteltrail receives a ceremonial start from the Mayor of Suhl, while the longer routes offer a substantial challenge for experienced trail runners in southern Thuringia.
