About this race
SUZUKI World Triathlon Hamburg is a city-centre triathlon held in Hamburg, described by the organiser as the world's largest triathlon. The public Open Races offer athletes a Sprint distance of 0.5 km swimming, 20 km cycling, and 5 km running, or an Olympic distance of 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling, and 10 km running. Relay teams can share the race, making it accessible to groups as well as solo triathletes.
The swim takes place in a river, the bike course is flat yet technical, and the run course is flat. This configuration makes the race accessible while still requiring good bike handling and pacing. The event is part of the international triathlon calendar, bringing together age-group racers, relay teams, first-timers, and elite triathletes over the same weekend. HAMBURG WASSER sponsors the event, and registration information for the Open Races is distributed via the race's social media channels and newsletter.
