About this race
The Zwei-Burgen-Lauf is a road race in Riedenburg, Bavaria, featuring a main run of approximately 12 km through the Altmühltal and shorter races for children. The main race commences in the morning from the school area on Schulstraße, with the children’s races starting earlier. The event is organized by the local Riedenburg running community, with TV Riedenburg 1906 also listed as an organizer, and it serves as a stage of the Landkreis-Laufcup Kelheim.
The route follows the canal for significant stretches and connects two historic castles in Riedenburg. It includes only about 40 meters of elevation gain, meaning the challenge lies in consistent pacing rather than steep ascents. The program features a Schülerlauf of around 2 km and a 400 m Bambinilauf, contributing to the strong youth participation: recent editions have seen over 130 children and young people. Following a nine-year hiatus, the race resumed with 199 finishers, and subsequent editions have surpassed 300 starters, establishing it as a notable local running event in the Kelheim district.
