About this race
Carrera del Mazapán is a short, popular road race in Sonseca, Toledo, held during the Christmas season and named for the marzipan sweets associated with the region. The current Sonseca race is listed as 6 km, with recent editions around 5.5 km and 7 km, placing it firmly in the fast, local-race category rather than the long-distance calendar.
The field is small enough to feel local but large enough for proper racing, with one recent edition seeing 228 finishers. Adrián Villa won that edition in 16:33, and Ana Hernández won the women's race in 19:58, demonstrating real speed at the front despite the event's nature as a popular race. It is part of the Toledo running calendar, alongside other town races that provide club and casual runners with opportunities to compete through winter.
