The Carrera Popular Villa de Honrubia is a local road race held in Honrubia, within Spain’s Cuenca province. Its main event covers slightly more than 8 km. The race is part of the Circuito de Carreras Populares Diputación de Cuenca, a provincial series that takes place from late winter through autumn. Children’s races are also part of the programme.
The race is organized by the Honrubia town council, with Club Atletismo Honrubia having assisted in previous years. A typical running of the event attracts approximately 265 participants in the main race and around 100 children in the various junior events. The practical arrangements are standard for a town race, including aid stations with both drinks and food, restrooms, showers, medical support, trophies, and a runner’s bag containing items such as a T-shirt, juice, a sandwich, and sweets. In one past men’s race, Marcos Hortelano finished in 27:42 after breaking away early and maintaining a pace of about 3:20 per kilometre.
