About this race
Cross al Yelmo is a 16.1 km mountain race held in La Pedriza, within Sierra de Guadarrama National Park. It begins and ends in Manzanares el Real’s Plaza del Pueblo. First run in 2001 and organized by Club de Montaña La Pedriza del Manzanares, this medium-distance event features approximately 800 m of elevation gain. The course combines 12 km of mountain trails with 4 km of running through the village streets.
The route departs the village via Avenida de La Pedriza, ascending through Garganta de Las Camorzas toward Canto Cochino. It proceeds along La Pedriza’s Gran Via towards Collado de La Dehesilla, passing Refugio Giner and Canto del Tolmo before arriving at Pradera del Yelmo. From Pradera del Yelmo, participants descend back to town via the steep Senda de La Rinconada, also known as Maeso. The race is included in the Copa de Madrid de Carreras por Montaña, though only participants with an FMM competition license are eligible for cup points.
