About this race
The Cross Nacional Aniversario Patrimonio Mundial is a cross-country race in Alcalá de Henares, a city in the Madrid region recognized for its World Heritage status, which lends the event its name. It is listed on Spain’s national cross-country calendar and is structured around multiple categories instead of a single mass start, with approximately 1,600 athletes anticipated across all divisions. The event also features popular-run categories, which have been enlarged due to increased demand.
The competition includes a mix of Spanish distance runners, club athletes, and popular runners. Irene Sánchez Escribano, an eight-time Spanish champion and two-time national cross-country champion, will compete in Alcalá for the first time. Isabel Barreiro, Clara Simal, and Nieves Campos are also registered for the women’s race, while Miguel Baidal and Alejandro Nogales are confirmed for the men’s. The Comunidad de Madrid has become a new sponsor, designating the Alcalá cross-country event as a regional reference, and the popular races now provide double the number of bibs compared to previous years.
