About this race
The Marcha Cueva del Gato is a mountain running event held in Benaoján, Málaga, organized by the Benaoján City Council. It features two trail races: a long march of approximately 43.5 to 45.5 km and a short march of 26.5 km. The long option presents a significant challenge, with published climb figures reaching 2,418 meters of positive elevation in some race details, while the short option requires close to 1,000 meters of climbing.
The routes traverse forest roads, tracks, and trails through Benaoján, Jimera de Líbar, Cortes de la Frontera, and Montejaque. Runners will go through the Sierra de Líbar and the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, confirming its nature as a mountain race. Entry limits are set at around 250 places for the long race and 350 for the short race, which includes youth and junior runners in the Mini March. The event also establishes competition categories, prizes, required safety equipment, and federation standards via the Andalusian Mountaineering Federation.
