About this race

S'GRAIL 100 begins in Cadaques on the Mediterranean and concludes near Girona in Catalonia, Spain, presenting itself as a point-to-point adventure rather than a typical closed-course triathlon. Held in mid-October, it features a compact yet demanding format: a 1.5 km sea swim, approximately 90 km by bike, and a 10.5 km run. The cycling segment is distinctive, requiring a gravel or mountain bike instead of standard triathlon equipment. Following the swim, the course transitions to rough gravel, farm tracks, and back roads, incorporating over 1,000 m of elevation gain on the bike and around 1,400 m for the entire race. Two steep ascents appear early in the ride, within the initial 30 km, with some gradients so severe that participants might need to dismount and walk. The route is unmarked, emphasizing the importance of navigation, and competitors typically download the course in advance. For logistics, athletes can drop off their bikes the preceding evening and then utilize event buses from Girona center to the start in Cadaques, a journey of about an hour.
