Komia Ilkan Polku

KOMIA Ilkan Polku is a late-autumn trail running event held at Luontokeskus Käpälikkö by Kyrkösjärvi in Seinäjoki. Halloween is integral to the event’s identity. The race offers a 42 km marathon, a 21 km half marathon, a 12 km Sprintti Ilkka, a 42 km four-person marathon relay, and an 800 m children’s Halloween Run. Participants can enter the main races competitively or without timing, accommodating club racers, fitness runners, and those seeking a marked trail day without formal ceremony. The event originated from the Ilkan polku trail between Kurikka and Ilmajoki. Earlier iterations utilized starts and changeover points along that route before the event center relocated to Kyrkösjärvi. The relay divides the marathon into four legs: 12 km, 8 km, 10 km, and 12 km, making it suitable for teams as well as solo long-distance runners. Runner feedback characterizes the route as long, hilly, snowy, and challenging, noting cheerful volunteers, good support services, and even soft raisins at an aid station. The children’s Halloween Run is free, begins at the race center, and allows children to run independently or with a parent, ideally in costume.
