About this race
Every Metsä Group Seurakisat evening begins with on-site sign-up, a shared playful warm-up, and simple athletics for children and families in Huittinen. The series is free and open to all, so children do not need a club place, sports school membership, or competition licence to participate. It serves as both an introduction to athletics and a low-pressure practice competition for children already in sports school.
The programme includes short cross-country runs at Huittinen Riding Centre and Kännölä, alongside track-and-field events at Huittinen Sports Field. The youngest children run 300m cross-country and try events like 40m sprints, sandpit jumping, ball throw, and spinning javelin. Older children compete in 1000m or 1400m runs, 60m or 200m sprints, long jump, and javelin. Instead of prizes at each meeting, participants collect points from individual events, receive a Seurakisakortti club race card, and get a sticker for every outing. The summer record stays with the child at home, and all participants are celebrated together at the Kunniakierros Lap of Honour event.
