Piispanpyöräily 2026

Piispanpyöräily (Bishop's Cycling) events are organized throughout the diocese. In 2026, the Oulu Ecumenical Piispanpyöräily will be cycled on September 12th from the Rotuaari stage in Oulu to the Jääli chapel. The event includes a warm-up and blessing at 10:00 AM, departure at 10:15 AM, arrival in Jääli between 11:15 AM and 12:00 PM, lunch and coffee from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM, and a short Orthodox prayer and ecumenical blessing at the Jääli chapel around 12:30 PM. The Jääli chapel will also be introduced around 12:45 PM, with an optional return trip at one's own pace, including a visit to the Jääli forest cemetery led by church administrator Pauli Niemelä. Participants are not insured by the organizer. You can join the group along the route or cycle your own routes to the Jääli chapel (Rivitie 9, 90940 Jääli). The schedule is indicative. Other Piispanpyöräily events include Nivala on June 3rd, starting from the parish hall at 6:00 PM with sausages, juice, and a raffle, and Utajärvi on September 14th, offering shorter walks for prams and walkers (length according to endurance) and a cycling route of approximately 10 km. Coffee, juice, and a joint responsibility raffle are provided.
