About this race
The 10 km de la Saint-Nicolas is a road race in Nancy, France, held during the Saint-Nicolas festivities in early December. Nancy at this time is filled with parades, lights, fairground rides, and the scent of mulled wine and gingerbread. The main event is a 10 km race, with junior races available for families. It is an FFA-labelled event, qualifying participants for the French Championships.
The 10 km course begins on Rue Sainte-Catherine, following a mostly flat loop through Nancy, including some cobbled sections in the city center. The route follows the Meurthe river and passes through Pépinière park before concluding on Place Stanislas, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its golden gates. Thousands of runners participate, ranging from serious competitors aiming for qualifying times to those enjoying the Saint-Nicolas atmosphere. Post-race, the traditional Lorraine recovery menu includes quiche lorraine, Nancy macarons, and regional confections.
