About this race
Course des Châteaux du Puy-Sainte-Réparade is a new race series held within the wine estates surrounding Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade, north of Aix-en-Provence. Participants can select a 10 km race or a 21 km race, with a 6 km option for walkers. The routes are not flat road loops; the short race involves approximately 170 meters of climbing, the 21 km race about 340 meters, and the walk includes about 120 meters of ascent. Starts are from Gymnase Cosec on avenue du Stade, with the longer race commencing first, followed by the shorter race, and then the walk.
The course consists of roughly half trails and vineyards, and half roads, providing a countryside trail character distinct from a typical town run. It passes through Château de Fonscolombe, Château Paradis, Château La Coste, and Tour Campanets. A key attraction is the access granted to wine domains not usually open to the public. The local club KM 610 established the event with backing from the town hall, following a significant absence of competitive running in the Puy-Sainte-Réparade countryside. Demand was immediate, with all 800 bibs sold by late May. Organizer Max Bajolle cited the route, varied distances, artistic elements, and engagement with younger runners via social media as contributing factors.
