About this race

Les 9 Clochers en Beaujolais is a trail-running event held in Chazay-d'Azergues, Rhône, scheduled for mid-October. The name translates to “the nine bell towers,” as the longest route guides runners through the landscapes of local villages and their church towers, rather than confining them to a single town. The race provides short, middle, and long course options: 6 km for beginners, 12 km for intermediate participants, and a long course of approximately 25 to 27 km for those seeking a more challenging run. Children’s and junior races are also included. The long route crosses or approaches villages such as Chazay, Morancé, Lucenay, Marcy-sur-Anse, Charnay, Saint-Jean-des-Vignes, Belmont, and Lozanne, featuring vineyards, orchards, country lanes, town segments, and sections along the Azergues river. The 12 km course includes four villages, while the long race covers eight, representing the complete “9 clochers” experience. Runners from Espoir to Masters categories are eligible. Course markings are typical for local events: blue arrows on the ground or stakes, custom tape for guidance, aid stations at 9 km, 15 km, 20 km, and the finish, with countdown markers for the final 7 km.
