About this race
Trail de Plaintel is a trail-running event in Côtes-d'Armor, Brittany, offering four race distances within a single program: 6.5 km, 12 km, 25 km, and a 42 km marathon. The 6.5 km race is exclusively for women, limited to 150 participants, featuring 80 m of elevation gain and no aid station on the course. The 12 km race includes 270 m of climbing, the 25 km has 730 m, and the marathon reaches 1,350 m with a 5 hour 15 minute cutoff at the 36 km aid station. Field sizes are capped at 580 runners for the 12 km, 370 for the 25 km, and 250 for the marathon, maintaining a more intimate scale compared to large urban events.
The 12 km route goes towards the Bois Départemental des Mauriers and passes Rocher Margot. The 25 km route begins towards the Chaos du Gouët, follows water flowing between granite formations, and passes restored mills before entering woods and fir plantations. Aid stations for the longer races provide water, cola, fruit, savory biscuits, sausage, cheese, dried fruit, chocolate, gingerbread, and pound cake, varying with distance. Marathon participants require a headlamp for the early dark section. Runners in the 12 km and 25 km races are asked to bring their own cup, flask, or hydration pack. All finishers receive a souvenir, with marathon finishers getting a technical one. The entire entry fee from the women-only 6.5 km race supports the cancer league for Pink October. Additionally, 8 km and 13 km walking routes are available with on-site registration.
