Trail des Sorcières is a Halloween-themed trail race held in Mâlain, a commune in Côte-d’Or, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, France. Participants gather in late October or early November for two off-road races: the 12 km La Harpie and the 26 km La Nécromancienne. Costumes are encouraged, and the witch theme is present throughout the event, from the race names to the suggestion to arrive in Halloween attire.
La Harpie encircles Mont Chauvin, featuring 450 meters of elevation gain within its 12 km distance, making it a challenging, non-flat course. La Nécromancienne begins in Mâlain, passes through the town, and soon enters the Roche Aigüe forest, offering approximately 950 meters of climbing over its 26 km. Both routes traverse forest trails and paths between Mâlain and Prâlon, cross damp fields, and may become muddy following rain. Hilltop vantage points provide valley views before runners descend to the finish line in Mâlain, with autumn foliage still visible.
