About this race
The Trail du château d'Ultrera is a trail-running event held in Sorède, on the Albères slopes near the road to Palau. The program includes a 13 km race with 500 m of elevation gain and the Néoulous Trail, a 27 km route with 1,500 m of climbing. Children's races are also part of the schedule. The event originated from the old Cross de la Saint-Martin and attracts hundreds of participants, supported by a significant volunteer group.
Both adult races begin at the sports complex, heading into the hills above Sorède. The 13 km course goes by Mas del Ca and the Valley of the Turtles, ascends towards Notre-Dame du Château and Puig Nalt, and then returns via Notre-Dame du Château. The 27 km Néoulous route ascends higher, connecting Mas del Ca, Pic du Midi, Néoulous, the Tagnarède refuge, Pic des Quatre Termes, Col des Trois Hêtres, Pic Aranyo, Roc de las Mèdes, Puig Nalt, and Notre-Dame du Château before returning to the Palau road. The event also features a DJ, prizes, a barbecue, refreshment stands, timing and announcing services, and bib collection partly managed through the Foulées de Cabestany store.
