Trail'Malling begins and ends at the lake and campsite in Malling, a village situated by the Moselle river bends in northern Moselle. This trail-running event offers three standard distances: 31.5 km, 22.5 km, and 15.3 km, with starts beginning at 10:00 AM. Over 600 participants attended the previous event, indicating it's a local race drawing a substantial crowd, not just a small village gathering.
All routes predominantly follow dirt paths, forest tracks, and singletrack, crossing the boxwood forest. The longest course includes vineyards and the elevated terrain of Stromberg near Contz-les-Bains, while the 22.5 km route penetrates the medieval castle of the Dukes of Lorraine. because of the temporary closure of the quartzite site, participants will follow the Montenach stream, cross the Hammelsberg Natura 2000 reserve, pass Koenigsberg farm, and merge with the 15.3 km course near the Hunting forest. The final kilometers from Hunting back to Malling are shared by all three races. At the finish line, volunteers provide a complimentary buffet featuring soup, crepes, cakes, sausage, fruit, and drinks.
