Les marronnaises - Redon
In Redon, the chestnut season begins with the Mini-Marronnaises, a race for CM1 and CM2 schoolchildren. The City of Redon organizes this event, which gathers about 650 students from public and private schools in Redon and neighboring communities such as Bains-sur-Oust, Sainte-Marie, Saint-Nicolas-de-Redon, Rieux, Allaire, and Saint-Jean-la-Poterie.
The route is a 750-meter loop within Redon's historic center. CM1 students complete two laps, and CM2 students complete three, offering the older children a slightly longer course on the same streets. This race has a long local tradition, with over thirty editions held, and it is part of Redon's chestnut season events, alongside a race for adults.
Foulées réguinoises - Réguiny
Foulées réguinoises is a local race day in Réguiny, starting in the afternoon with a family atmosphere. Now in its 35th edition, the event features children’s races in the early afternoon before the main runs commence.
The main change this year is the introduction of two nature circuits: a 7 km route and a 14 km route. Runners can choose between a short trail-style outing or a longer one. Each entry includes a charitable contribution, with 1 euro from each registration donated to Des Papillons Pour Louna, an organization supporting a young girl with a rare disease.
Trail De La Rivière D'etel - Nostang
The Trail De La Rivière D'etel - Nostang is a trail running event held in Nostang, Brittany, connected to the ria d’Etel trail series. Over 1,200 participants compete on four courses, including a 6 km option and a 25 km route that passes through the village of Saint-Symphorien, where a refreshment stop is located. Bibs are known to sell out before race day. The local organizer, Chemins d’antan, utilizes approximately 150 volunteers for managing parking, bib collection, cloakrooms, aid stations, and the finish area.
The event maintains a strong local character. The mayor traditionally starts the races using a bell. Regional race photographer Philippe Josse captures numerous images, and some participants are familiar with sections of the course from hiking events. At the finish line, volunteers Odile and Guy offer 160 liters of pumpkin and ginger soup, prepared since early morning. The participants include competitive runners, young athletes, hikers, club members, and regular participants in nature sports, with spectators lining the course to offer encouragement.
Corrida de Guérande
Corrida de Guérande is a road race held in the center of Guérande, starting on Rue Thobie. It is an event for local runners, focusing on gathering in the old town rather than a point-to-point route or a stadium.
The Saint-Jean-Baptiste college courtyard and gymnasium serve as the runner reception area and race headquarters, creating a compact setup near the start. The races resumed after a two-year interruption, first due to a storm with winds exceeding 120 km/h and then by Covid-19. This restart brought significant relief to organizers and participants.
Marathon de la Côte d'amour - Guérande
The Marathon de la Côte d'Amour is a 42.195 km road marathon on the Guérande Peninsula in Loire-Atlantique. Runners start from the seafront embankment in La Baule. This marathon is the main event of its weekend, attracting around 7,000 starters, giving it the feel of a large international event. Conditions can be favorable for fast times when the Atlantic weather is cooperative, with reports of sun, light wind, and cool temperatures between 10 and 16 degrees Celsius.
The route is a loop with minimal elevation gain, designed for fast running. It begins and ends in La Baule, passing through Le Pouliguen, Batz-sur-Mer, and Le Croisic. The course then crosses the salt marshes before returning to La Baule. Organizers openly discuss fast winning times; event director Julien Gaborieau mentioned aiming for a winner around 2:05 or 2:06, indicating the course is a serious venue for competitive running, not just scenic coastal mileage.
Foulées du pont du bonhomme - Kervignac
Foulées Muzillacaises
The Foulées Muzillacaises is a 10 km road race in Muzillac, a town in the Morbihan department of Brittany, France. The event is listed on Brittany’s running calendar and is built around a straightforward local road-racing format, with the main 10 km joined by races for children and juniors.
The race base is the Parc-Cosec complex in Muzillac. Younger runners have their own distances, including 2.3 km, 1.2 km, and 800 m, so the day is not only for adults chasing a 10 km result. The event changed from its old December slot to May for its 30th edition, and the program also added a trail race at the Pen Mur site, giving the series a road-and-trail shape rather than a single-town 10 km only.
Corrida verte de Rhuys - Sarzeau
Corrida Verte de Rhuys is a mid-December trail race held in Sarzeau, located on the Rhuys peninsula in Morbihan, Brittany. The primary event is 10.6 km, though older references mention a 12 km distance. The race begins in front of the Espace Culturel de l’Hermine and is organized by Athlé Rhuys. The participants are predominantly local, with over 300 runners competing in the last edition.
The course commences by crossing Sarzeau’s town center before transitioning from streets to green paths encircling the peninsula. It winds through the parks of Truscat, Kerlevenan, and the Manoir de Kerbot, offering a more secluded, estate-like, and rural character compared to a typical road race. Formerly known as Corrida de Rhuys, the event adopted its current trail-focused name starting with its 33rd edition.
Foulées questembertoises
The Foulées Questembertoises is a 10 km road race held in Questembert, a town in Morbihan, Brittany. It takes place entirely within the town center, making it a compact urban race instead of a countryside route. The event also features children’s races, providing local young runners with their own start before the main 10 km event.
The field is composed of local and club runners, with CARQ, the Club Athlétic de la Région de Questembert, taking a prominent role. In one recorded race, 276 runners began the 10 km in harsh weather conditions. Sylvain Cheval won in 32:08 during his initial appearance for CARQ, following a sprint finish involving four athletes. François Oillic of L’ESC Océan 44 Saint-Nazaire and Guillaume Chollet of Ploërmel were recorded with the same time as the winner, while Mathieu Rotiel secured fourth place. CARQ also achieved victories in younger age groups, with Jules Vaugrenard winning in Benjamins and Envel Chamallard in Minimes. The race has reached its maximum registration capacity, a first for the event, indicating demand that exceeds the capacity of its town-center course.

10 Km du Bord de Mer
10 Km du Bord de Mer is a road race held on a Saturday in late February in Damgan, a seaside town in Morbihan, Brittany. Participants can select either a 5.5 km or 10 km distance, making the event suitable for beginners and those seeking a more challenging run. The race also benefits a charitable cause, adding a purpose to the day beyond the finish time.
The course runs alongside the sea, with Damgan’s coastal location offering runners fresh air, expansive views, and a distinct feeling of being on the Breton coast. The event emphasizes a welcoming local atmosphere and a route adaptable to various skill levels, rather than focusing solely on competitive club runners. It also provides an opportunity for visitors to explore Damgan, a former fishing village featuring beaches and characteristic streets near the race route.
Semi Marathon De Ploermel Communaute - Ploërmel
The Semi Marathon de Ploërmel Communauté is a road half marathon held in mid-February, starting in Ploërmel, Morbihan, Brittany. The primary race is the standard 21.0975 km distance, run as a single loop, attracting close to 1,500 participants with a community focus and charitable aspect.
The course combines running between towns with sections through the Morbihan countryside, utilizing winding roads connecting small Breton villages and passing near local points of interest. It offers an endurance challenge while maintaining a local race atmosphere, with residents from Ploërmel and surrounding areas present along the route to support the runners.
