About this race
CTT Scotland and VTTA Track Day is a short track cycling time trial held at Caird Park Velodrome in Dundee, on a 402-meter outdoor track. Riders start one at a time, not in a group, aiming to finish 5 km in the shortest time possible, which is 12 laps plus 176 meters. Each participant receives a 15-minute window, allowing for a few warm-up laps before the timed effort. Splits are recorded at 1 km and 3 km, in addition to the finish line.
The event is organized by CTT Scotland and the Veterans Time Trials Association, with the stated goal of increasing track participation in Scotland. It has a limit of 26 riders, and 20 spots are reserved for veterans. However, riders of any age may enter if they are members of a CTT affiliated club or the VTTA. If more riders apply than there are spaces, selection may be based on recent 10-mile personal bests, with veterans ranked by age-adjusted times. Record attempts are permitted on solo or tandem time trial bikes, CTT-legal road bikes, or UCI-legal fixed gear track bikes; tricycles are not allowed. The 1 km and 3 km marks are eligible for the VTTA outdoor track record book, and VTTA riders who establish age records are presented with certificates post-event.
