About this race
Pierrepont Plod - Spring is a March trail challenge at Holme Pierrepont Country Park and Watersports Centre, built around a six-hour loop format. Runners cover laps of about 5.45km, with the option to keep going for the full time or stop after a single lap. It is mostly flat, with only small hills, so it can suit runners chasing a personal best as well as people who just want a short muddy run.
The route uses trails around the country park, including a section beside the Regatta rowing lake, and runners should expect mud, roots, and puddles. Because Holme Pierrepont can flood during wetter months, the organisers prepare two similar loops: a preferred south route starting from a car park and a backup north route starting near the cafe on the lake’s north side. Both versions have very little climbing, with roughly 22m or 27m of elevation, and the final route is confirmed in the weeks before race day.
