About this race
The Pitsford Water Trail Races begin and end at Brixworth Country Park, offering a 10k and a half marathon on trails and tracks surrounding Pitsford Water in Northamptonshire. The half marathon starts first in the morning, with the 10k following soon after; both races have a four-hour time limit. The 10k is designed for runners new to trail racing who want to avoid a long distance initially, while the half marathon presents a more challenging run for those prepared for more miles on varied terrain. Trail shoes, or footwear with good grip, are recommended, and all participants must carry a working mobile phone.
Both courses depart the country park and cross the dam towards Pitsford before joining the trails above the water. The 10k route descends, crosses the causeway, and returns along the path beside Pitsford Water. The half marathon continues through Holcot, Hannington, Walgrave, Old, and Scaldwell before reconnecting with the waterside path for the final mile. The longer route features stiles between fields, meaning it is not a continuous, smooth half marathon. Dogs are prohibited as the races utilize footpaths across farmland, and participants must provide their own cup for aid stations. Spectators are advised to watch from the paths around Pitsford Water rather than attempting to park in the villages.
