About this race

The River Lea Ultra, London Lea Valley 50KM, and Gratitude 25KM series traces the Lea Valley corridor into East London. Races have been organized by GoodGym and Camino Ultra London since 2020. The 50 km race is a flat ultra from Welwyn Garden City to Hackney Wick, utilizing the Cole Green Way and the Lea Valley Path as it transitions from rural Hertfordshire towards the city. The 25 km race begins at Broxbourne and follows the Lea Valley canal to Here East, offering a point-to-point route that avoids the full ultra distance. The races are designed for accessible endurance running, not a strictly elite field. Organizers intend to maintain affordability, enjoyment, and openness to London locals. Participants will run on Lea Valley towpaths and Epping Forest greenways. The 50 km route includes three aid stations, while the 25 km route has one. The 25 km incorporates the “Powered by Gratitude” concept, and both distances conclude with a finish-line gathering at Here East in Hackney Wick.
