About this race

Coed-y-Brenin begins the race: forest tracks first, then a mountain and trail race that progresses to rougher ground. In its 7th edition, the route moves through Southern Snowdonia, featuring Cadair Idris Penygader, Rhinog Fach, the Llŷn Peninsula, Dolgellau, and the Barmouth estuary. This course is designed for ultra runners who know that scenic views do not guarantee an easy day. The course is long and demanding, traversing trails, forest, and mountain terrain. Checkpoints and GPS tracking are provided, but there are no easy sections. The path through Coed-y-Brenin showcases Wales' largest forest before posing challenges: ascend Cadair Idris? Traverse Barmouth Estuary? Runners receive Gold, Silver, or Bronze Ultra Wales medals based on their finishing position, adding a competitive edge to the finish, even for those further back.
