Recurring 5K races near Emsdetten

Races that repeat — weekly, monthly or yearly

De Jong & Laan Halve Marathon Oldenzaal
SUN OCT 4
The De Jong & Laan Halve Marathon Oldenzaal is an autumn running event held annually in Oldenzaal, Overijssel. The half marathon is the primary race, complemented by 10 km, 5 km, and youth 1 km and 2 km races. A business run and a school championship are also part of the event, broadening participation beyond just half-marathon competitors. Early registrants receive their start numbers by mail, while later entrants pick theirs up at the venue. During the LAAC Twente era, the race was known as the Halve van LAAC and utilized the outskirts of Oldenzaal. As development encroached on that area, organizers relocated the course towards Weerselo, eventually introducing a new route and the name Huttenkloasloop. That iteration guided participants through the scenic, undulating countryside surrounding Oldenzaal, bearing the motto “Not the fastest, but the most beautiful!” The event is now named Halve Marathon Oldenzaal, retaining the same route, and is managed by Stichting Halve Marathon Oldenzaal. De Jong & Laan serves as the main sponsor, and the event contributes to Kans voor een kind.
37. Westerwinkellauf
SAT NOV 7
The Westerwinkellauf is a November road running event in Ascheberg-Herbern, organized by SV 1919 Herbern. The program ranges from a 400m Bambini run for children aged five and under to 5km and 10km road races, with walking offered over 5km. The shorter races provide separate starts for children and students. The 2.8km Schlosslauf, 5km, and 10km are open to all age groups. RACE RESULT is used for registration, participant lists, results, and certificates. The organizer publishes course maps and a site plan. Regional partners support the event and assist with participant services on race day.
AOK Advents-Aaseelauf
SUN NOV 29
The AOK Advents-Aaseelauf is an evening run in Münster, Germany, taking place on the first Advent around the Aasee. Participants can select from 3 km, 5 km, or 10 km distances. The shorter races begin in the late afternoon, with the 10 km race commencing after dark. The course is flat, and all distances conclude at the same finish line, contributing to a compact and straightforward event. With results documented across multiple past editions, this event is more than a single winter run; it is a local Münster tradition offering choices for children, novice runners, and those seeking a quicker 5 km or 10 km pace before the Christmas season begins.
Snertloop De Lutte
SUN DEC 6
Snertloop De Lutte is a winter road race held in De Lutte, a village in the Twente region of the eastern Netherlands. The race begins at Dorpshoes Erve Boerrigter on Plechelmusstraat, featuring three course options: 5.3 km, 9.6 km, and a free 2.4 km event for children aged 12 and under. Loopgroep De Lutte is the organizing body. Chip timing is provided for the longer distances, and the event has a participant cap of 1,100, meaning the registration list can fill rapidly. The course extends from the village into the undulating terrain and woodlands surrounding De Lutte. The youth distance route incorporates the nearby Kerkebos. Participants include club athletes, competitive runners, novices, and children. Awards are presented to the top three finishers in each category. A distinctive local element is the namesake "snert" (thick Dutch pea soup), which is served to all participants upon completion, complementing the cold-weather nature of the event.
Silvesterlauf des SC Altenrheine
THU DEC 31
The Silvesterlauf des SC Altenrheine is a New Year's Eve road race held in Altenrheine, a district of Rheine in North Rhine-Westphalia. Organized by SC Altenrheine e.V., the event begins before noon with children's races, followed by 5 km and 10 km races. The shortest is a 0.6 km Bambinilauf for children up to age 11, then a 2 km Schülerlauf for ages 6 to 15. The 5 km Jedermannlauf, open from age 12, includes walkers. The 10 km Hauptlauf is for participants aged 14 and older. All distances feature circuit courses within Altenrheine, utilizing paved paths and the sports park. The routes are officially measured, making the 5 km and 10 km suitable for those seeking an accurate time. This event, held since 1988, attracts a diverse local field: children, school-age runners, walkers, club athletes, and adults concluding the year with a final race. Youth races have no entry limit, but the 5 km and 10 km races are capped at 400 participants each. With over 1,000 online pre-registrations, these races can sell out days in advance. Refreshments are provided in the finish area.

Enschede ranks among the top Dutch marathons, alongside Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and Eindhoven, and is a spring option to Rotterdam. Approximately 80,000 spectators attend annually, supported by about 950 volunteers. The event also backs the Run Against Cancer initiative and provides runners with year-round training advice.
