The Bad Hersfelder Lollslauf brings runners to central Bad Hersfeld in early October, with starts near Linggplatz and the market square by the VR-Bank. The event attracts participants from throughout Germany and has seen over 3,000 competitors, with entry limits set for logistical reasons. Ski-Club Neuenstein manages the race, and its timing near the Lullusfest opening connects it to the town’s autumn schedule rather than appearing as an isolated sports occasion. One year featured the slogan “This time it runs differently,” a direct reference to the adjusted course and the organizers' practical approach to adapting the race.

The Gudensberger Crosslauf Hermann Kilian Gedächtnislauf is a cross-country race held in Gudensberg. It begins and concludes on a dirt path and meadow situated below the Terrano swimming pool on Schwimmbadweg. This local running event features short off-road distances: 1000m, 2000m, and 4000m races. The programme may also incorporate district championships. The course predominantly follows unpaved paths, and the allowance of spikes makes it more akin to a traditional cross-country meet than a road race. Specifically, the 1000m race consists of two small laps, the 2000m race comprises two large laps, and the 4000m race is run over one longer lap. The event honors Hermann Kilian, who dedicated many years to TSV Obervorschütz as an organizer, motivator, and coach following his own running career. He passed away after a brief, serious illness.
