The Karya Olympus Trail, held in late May, is a mountain running series situated in Karya Olympus, close to Elassona in Thessaly, on Mount Olympus's southern slopes. The primary event covers approximately 25 km with roughly 1,500 m of elevation gain and descent, allowing participants six hours to complete. The series also includes shorter races of 13 km, 5 km, 1.5 km, and 600 m, catering to a range of participants beyond just long-distance trail runners.
The course is located at the base of Mount Olympus, distinct from urban road circuits, presenting a challenge primarily through continuous mountain terrain and significant vertical gain relative to its distance. A past event attracted around 250 solo participants and utilized five aid stations. However, the current 25 km description indicates aid stations are not yet confirmed, advising runners to consult the latest race instructions regarding support. The race is part of the ITRA National League, with even the 5 km event holding ITRA mountain and finisher ratings.
