About this race
Szádvár Trail is a trail running event held in October in Szögliget, a village in northern Hungary near the Aggtelek Karst. Participants can select from 10, 22, 43, or 69 kilometer distances, offering options from a short mountain run to a full ultra. The 43 km Kapitány Kör is a solo race featuring approximately 1,318 meters of elevation gain and loss, a 7-hour time limit, and two aid stations.
The routes traverse the hills and valleys of the Aggtelek Karst, including forest sections where deer sightings are possible. The course incorporates monastery ruins concealed within trees, the challenging ascent of Szádvár, vistas from Esztramos Hill, and a line of old cellars near Bódvaszilas. This event is part of the Compressport series and appeals to runners seeking rugged terrain, consistent climbing, and a rural race focused on local landmarks over urban settings.
