From the Sportpálya start, the eighth Pilis Vertikál is a straightforward race: “Just up to the Pilis!” The race centre is at Kök-ház, where bibs are picked up and the post-race activities occur, but the true nature is on the hill: a bit of asphalt, but mostly trail, with enough climbing to make pacing plans feel optimistic.
Runners start one by one every 10 seconds, in bib-number order, making it feel more like chasing ghosts than being in a pack. Kids, adults, seniors, teams, family pairs, and mixed pairs all face the same uphill challenge, with TRAXPACE chip timing handling the results. The organisers' best advice is also the most practical: “The only tactic is that there is no tactic.”
